After three incredible years, we are winding down the Peridot mobile game.

Starting today, all in-app purchases will be disabled and items in the in-game shop will be available with remaining in-game currency. The app will be removed from the App Store and Google Play on May 14, 2026, and our servers will officially close on August 31, 2026. Between now and then, we hope you'll take the time to be with your Dots one last time. Use your items, go on walks, and celebrate the creatures you've raised. They've earned it.

This was not an easy decision, and we didn’t make it lightly. But before we explain the why, we want to take a moment to reflect on what we built together, because that part deserves to come first.

What we built, together

When we set out to build Peridot mobile, we wanted to create something that had never existed before. Not just a game, but a living, breathing world layered on top of your own, where creatures felt genuinely real, navigating your streets, recognizing your surroundings, and growing alongside you.

We believe we did that. Peridot pushed the boundaries of what augmented reality could do on a mobile device, and in doing so, created an entirely new category of spatial experiences. That we could build something so ambitious, so pioneering, and so genuinely magical is something we're proud of.

But what made Peridot truly special wasn't the technology. It was you. The community that formed around Peridot was unlike anything we expected: deeply connected, creatively passionate, and genuinely devoted to their Dots in a way that moved us every single day. You didn't just play Peridot. You cared for it.

Why we're making this decision

We built Peridot for the future. From the very beginning, we dreamed of experiences that went far beyond what a phone screen could offer. But we didn't want to wait for that world to arrive. We wanted to bring Peridot to life right then, meeting our community where they were and pushing mobile as far as it could possibly go.

Building Peridot the way we built it was a deliberate choice. We designed it to push the absolute limits of what the technology could do: real-time mapping, occlusion, semantic segmentation, generative AI, features that made your Dot feel like it truly belonged in your world. That level of ambition came with tradeoffs. An always-on AR experience is one of the most technically demanding things you can build, and keeping it running well, at scale, for so long, requires enormous investment.

Over the years, and with the advancements in spatial computing, our original vision began to take shape. As our team's priorities evolved, the Peridot franchise expanded beyond mobile, into mixed reality with Hello, Dot on headsets and into true outdoor AR wearables with Peridot Beyond on Snap Spectacles. In many ways, this is exactly what we set out to build. And with that growth, it became increasingly difficult to invest in the mobile game in a way that felt worthy of the game you fell in love with.

This is the right decision for our team and for the future of the Peridot franchise. And still, it’s not one we came to easily, or without a lot of love for what this game meant to us and to you.

Your Dots

We know your Dots aren't just pixels. They're companions you raised, named, and spent real time with. Saying goodbye to them is the hardest part of this announcement for us to write, and we imagine the hardest part for many of you to read.

We encourage you to save your Dot cards, screenshots, and videos before the servers close, and share your favorite memories with the community that made this franchise what it is.

The creatures you raised, and the time you gave them, meant something. We won't forget that.

The franchise lives on

While the mobile game is winding down, Peridot is not.

Since launch, we've expanded the franchise across new platforms that bring your Dots to life in ways the phone screen never could. Hello, Dot transforms your living room into a playspace for your companions. Peridot Beyond and Project Jade take them outdoors, into the world, by your side. We don't know exactly what comes next, only that we're not ready to close the door on this franchise.

We've always believed that Peridot belongs in a world where the hardware matches the vision, where you can look through a pair of glasses and see your Dot walking beside you down the street. That world is getting closer every day.

Q: What are the key dates for the Peridot mobile shutdown? 

Here's a summary of the important dates to know:

• Today, April 23, 2026: All in-app purchases will be disabled and items in the in-game shop will be available with remaining in-game currency.

• May 14, 2026: The Peridot app will be removed from the App Store and Google Play. If you already have the app installed, you will still be able to play until the servers close. If you delete the app or get a new device after this date, you will unfortunately be unable to re-download it, so we recommend keeping the app installed until the very end.

• August 31, 2026: The Peridot servers will officially close. All features will be turned off and the game will no longer be accessible. If you would like to request your account data, please contact our support team by July 31, 2026 to allow us time to prepare it for you.

Q: Can I use my in-game currency and everything I’ve collected? Will I get a refund on purchases?

• Globally: Players will not be able to receive a refund on past purchases, except where otherwise required by law. You will be able to spend your remaining Peridough and use your remaining items before the servers close. We want you to have plenty of time to enjoy everything you've collected, so make the most of it with your Dots before they say goodbye.

• Japan: You will be able to spend your remaining Peridough and use your remaining items before the servers close. Visit this page after August 31, 2026 for an update about unused Peridough balance at that time.

Q: What happens to my Dots when the servers close? 

When the servers close, you will no longer be able to access your Dots through the mobile game. We encourage you to save your Dot Cards, screenshots and videos of your creatures and the memories you've made with them before the servers close. We're exploring possibilities for how your creatures might carry forward into future experiences, but we have no specific announcements to make at this time.

Q: Will there be any final in-game events before the servers close? 

Existing game events will run as normal. Use your items, go on walks, and spend time with your Dots before the servers close.

Q: Will Peridot be available on any other platforms after the mobile game ends? 

Yes. The Peridot franchise exists beyond mobile. Hello, Dot is available on Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro, and Peridot Beyond is available on Snap Spectacles (5th Generation). Visit playperidot.com to keep up to date on the franchise.

Q: Is Ingress being impacted by this decision?
